Doubles qualifying is done at the 2021 IBF Super World Championships in Dubai. All three doubles teams from Lithuania advanced to the next round of doubles group match play.
All bowling federations were allowed to enter two different doubles teams per gender and athletes were competing in Baker format. Competing doubles successively and in regular order bowled complete and consecutive frames within the same game (for example, athlete A bowled frames 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, while athlete B bowled frames 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10).
Team LTU double team advanced in women’s division
The women’s field at Dubai International Bowling Centre featured 45 doubles teams from dozens of countries worldwide. Singapore set the pace with 2,330 pinfall for their 10 games (233.00 avg.), while another Singapore’s doubles team scored 2,256 (225.60 avg.) and finished third. Second position before round of 32 won duet of Bowling Federation of Russia with total 2,274 pinfall and 227.40 avg.
Team Lithuania’s Rasa Germanavičienė and Marija Žiogė qualified twenty-eighth with 1,903 (190,30 avg.) and remain on the medal road.
Both Team LTU doubles advanced in men’s division
Swedish duet was unstoppable in men’s division. Jesper Svensson and Pontus Andersson claimed the top spot with 2,467 total (246.7 avg.), including one perfect game, beating all other 63 doubles teams. Germany finished second with 2,402 pinfall (240.2 avg.) and Korea took third – 2,396 (239.6 avg.).
Team Lithuania had two different doubles teams in men’s division. The duet of National champion Laurynas Narušis and vice-champion Aidas Daniūnas had a big game and was flirting with the TOP 10. However, a bit unlucky ending pushed them to the 17th place with total of 2,228 pinfall and 222.8 average. Their teammates, Andrius Gasparavičius and national team debutant Aidas Borodinas got just enough and landed 29th with 2,150 and 215.00 avg.
The best 32 teams will be divided into four groups of 8 athletes. Seven games will be played against every team in group and best two doubles teams of each group will advance to the next round.
